How do we shape the future in the age of digital industries? Over 500 participants came together to discuss a common European vision on 31st January and 1st February 2017 at Zeche Zollverein in Essen.
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the European Commission had invited stakeholders from all EU countries. Experts and company representatives discussed, among others, the effects of digitization on the European labour market. The topics of standardization, data security and regulatory challenges were addressed in thematic workshops on the second conference day.
Former Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society and current Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, Günther H. Oettinger, emphasized in his keynote speech the necessity for European cooperation in the context of Industrie 4.0. European activities that serve national initiatives to exchange ideas and experiences in the context of digitizing industries have been corroborated. The “European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs” represents just one of many ways to exchange experiences and expertise in the future.
IFOK is, in its role as a consortium partner, in charge of the Secretariat of Plattform Industrie 4.0. Against this backdrop, IFOK was responsible for the conception and content of the event.
