“I often take ‘daring’ climate actions when traveling.”

Jana Peters

What made you decide to work at ifok?

I want to be able to use my job to make the world a better place, and I feel like I can do that at ifok. I consider it essential in today’s society to enable citizens to engage in dialogue about change, to involve them in political processes, and to give them the opportunity to develop recommendations for potential solutions. For a stronger democracy, for less political frustration and more “being heard” and also for sustainable development in the sense of ecological, social and economic sustainability.

When did you start at ifok and where were you before?

I joined ifok in November 2018, having previously worked as a sustainability manager in the events industry. As a trained event manager, I am passionate about transforming the event industry in a sustainable way. For more resource efficiency and less waste. This is also very important to me at ifok. That’s why I’m very happy about our ifok.ecofair label, which I helped develop and with which we certify our events as sustainable.

What sets you apart at the office?

Openness, motivation and a strong commitment to the “we feeling” in the team are important to me for good cooperation. I particularly enjoy conversations with new and old ifox, in which I can explore other perspectives and approaches and take something away from them.

What do you do that is particularly sustainable?

My sustainability conscience often prompts me to take “daring” climate actions when traveling: Instead of taking the plane, I take the train or the bus wherever possible – and I try out where that takes me. In 32 hours from Frankfurt to the Spanish north coast? Or taking the train to Budapest for a weekend? Even during the journey I am not always fully convinced, but I’ve always arrived so far, and did so with a smaller carbon footprint 😊
